Dismiss a tool on a device

Stop a tool counting on one device, for example after a test.

Dismissing tells Lodestar that what was found or seen so far on a device should stop counting. Use it after testing a tool, or once you have spoken to the user.

Admins and staff can dismiss. Read-only users see the dismissals but cannot change them.

Dismiss one tool

Open the device, then the AI tools tab.

Under the tool, select Dismiss.

Optionally add a note, for example "testing" or "spoke to the user".

Select Dismiss.

The tool moves to Previously found, with the date, who dismissed it, and your note.

A dismissal covers both the tool's installs and its network use on that device. It stops counting in the device's figures, the tool's figures, the Overview and Needs attention.

If the tool is used online again, or removed and later installed again, it comes back. A removal and reinstall between two daily reports keeps the dismissal.

Dismiss all network use

Open the device, then the Network activity tab.

Select Dismiss all network use.

Optionally add a note. Without one, the note reads "All network use dismissed".

Select Dismiss all.

Every tool the device has used online so far stops counting on it. The console says how many services it dismissed.

A dismissal covers the whole tool on the device, so a tool that was both used online and installed stops counting for both. Tools that were only found on disk still count. Anything used online again from then on comes back.

The dismissed services stay on the Network activity tab, greyed out. Each one is listed under Previously found on the AI tools tab, where you can undo it.

Undo a dismissal

Select Undo on the message straight after dismissing one tool, or Undo beside the tool in Previously found. It counts again at once.

Network use dismissed on a device still appears in the Overview's network cards.
